Join us as we explore the diverse food culture of Japan. Savor an array of delicious flavors from the Japanese cuisine while enjoying a fun and informative food tasting event hosted by a Foods of New York staff member in one of New York City's acclaimed Japanese restaurants.

Learn about the authentic tradition of Japanese Sushi and the trendy yet undiscovered flavors of Ippin Ryori (Japanese tapas). Your host will convey the sophisticated aesthetics behind the artful presentation. Enjoy six courses of unique Japanese delicacies paired with beer, saki, and information detailing the origins and cultural relevance of these fine foods. An exciting adventure for the food lover or novice, sure to satisfy the palate and engage the mind.

During this food tasting event you will enjoy a variety of dishes that exemplify Japan's culinary diversity. Make the foreign familiar, through an in depth understanding of the vibrant techniques and culture of the foods of Japan.

Event Information:

Below are a list of delicious Japanese specialties that will be served:

• Japanese Tapas - Seven small plates ranging from seared rare beef to warm and delicate tofu drizzled with sweet miso
• Sashimi (3 types of sliced raw fish)
• Nigiri (3 types of sliced raw fish pressed on seasoned rice)
• Maki (2 types of raw fish, seasoned rice, rolled in nori seaweed)
• The finest in Japanese sake (cold and warm).
• Ice Cold Japanese Beer
• REAL fresh ground Wasabi.
• A contemporary Japanese desert

The menu is broken down into six courses with a detailed description of each.

Food Served: This culinary experience will suffice as dinner for the evening. Note: food tastings are subject to change without notice.

Private Culinary Dining Experiences

Group Size: 1 group of 14 people

Days Offered: Tuesday-Sunday

Start Times: Tuesday-Sunday at 5pm, Sunday afternoons are also available.

Duration: Culinary Dining Experience is 2.5 hours

Cost: $910 without alcohol - up to 14 people / $1050 with alcohol - up to 14 people

Start Times: It is very important that your group arrives on time. We ask all private groups to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled start time. This will give us the time needed to organize your group, answer questions, and give the culinary experience overview. It is also very important to arrive on time so the kitchen timing is not thrown off.

An exciting adventure for the food lover or novice, sure to satisfy the palate and engage the mind.

Food Tastings: During this interactive Culinary Dining Experience you will enjoy a variety of dishes that exemplify Japan's culinary diversity. Make the foreign familiar, through an in depth understanding of the vibrant techniques and culture of the foods of Japan. This culinary experience will be your dinner for the evening. You won’t be hungry after!

Attire: Casual Attire (Although not necessary, feel free to dress up if you are dining with us for a special occasion.)

Inclement Weather: Culinary Experience is held rain or shine. Taxi’s, subways, and buses are suggested to arrive on time during inclement weather. Culinary Experience is held indoors at one restaurant location.
